ユネスコは「マハワンシャヤ」を世界遺産に登録することを決定した。
これにより、現在ペラデニヤ大学の図書館に所蔵されている「マハワンシャヤ」が世界遺産に登録されることになりました。 ペラデニヤ大学副学長のウプル・ディサナヤケ教授は、「マハワンシャヤ」の全セクションが大学図書館で正しく保存されていることを考慮して、ユネスコがこの決定に達したとニュース1stに語った。 ユネスコの代表者は、国内のさまざまな場所にある他の「マハワンシャヤ」ヤシの葉の本を検査しましたが、それらには欠陥があるため、世界遺産として宣言する資格がないとみなされました。 『マハワンシャヤ』は13世紀に書かれたと考えられています。
