スリランカのディヤルマ滝の頂上には、高さ 220 メートルの滝を見下ろす静かな天然のインフィニティ プールがあります。バドゥッラ地区のコスランダの町の近くにあるこの滝はスリランカで 2 番目に大きいもので、インド洋の中心部を訪れる探検家にとって必見の名所となっています。

ディヤルマ滝まで崖を登る長いトレッキングを終えると、旅行者は一連のプールと、デモンダラの広大な渓谷と森林の驚くべき景色に出迎えられます。

ディヤルマ滝は、標高 427 m (1,401 フィート) を流れるスリランカの川、プンガラ オヤから形成されます。川の上流には、壮大な小さな滝がたくさんありますが、ディヤルマ滝は見逃したくない滝です。

高所恐怖症の人のために、滝の底には一連のプールがあり、そこに浮かんで、見下ろす巨大な崖の面を眺めることができます。

ディヤルマの民話

つくしの滝は、首長が不当に一族から高地に追放されたという地元の伝説の悲劇の舞台となっています。男性は部族に戻りたかったが、その地域への入り口はすべて警備されていたため、ロープを使って崖を降りた。

男性は下に降りる際に岩の一つに足を滑らせて転落死した。この男に同情した神々は、崖を越えて流れる激流を作り出し、死の証拠を覆い隠しました。

名前の由来は神による創造であり、シンハラ語でディヤルマ語に直訳すると「急速な水の流れ」を意味します。

エリアの探索

滝があるエッラ地区は、見どころやアクティビティが豊富な自然の美しい地域です。スリランカ南部の平原を見渡すエラ ギャップは、スリランカで最も壮観な景色の 1 つと考えられています。

近くにある素晴らしい建築物ランドマークは、巨大なニース アーチ橋です。そのニックネームは「天空の橋」です。ご想像のとおり、この橋は非常に高いところにあるためです。霧の日には雲を突き抜けて見えます。

近くのラーヴァナの洞窟は、素晴らしい自然のランドマークであるだけでなく、伝説的な史跡でもあります。物語によれば、スリランカのラーヴァナ王がインド王の美しい王妃を誘拐し、これらの洞窟に監禁したということです。

緑豊かな丘や茶畑を通過する、有名なキャンディからエラへの列車の旅もあります。世界で最も美しい列車の旅とみなされていますが、所要時間は約 7 時間なので、軽食をご持参ください。

エラ自体は賑やかで活気に満ちた場所で、飲み物を楽しむのに最適な場所です。バックパッカーに人気の街で、夜の外出に最適です。

ディヤルマ滝までの登りだけでは物足りない場合は、リトル アダムズ ピークまでの壮大なトレッキングもあります。標高 1,141 メートル (3,743 フィート) を登るには、2 ～ 3 時間かかります。長い散歩ですが、道全体に沿って進むことができ、頂上の素晴らしい景色は登る価値があります。
