ポッカリ (ෙපාක්කාලි)

ポッカリは、スリランカで伝統的に栽培されている人気のある赤米の品種です。稈の高さは約130cmで、1株あたり約10個の分げつを持ちます。この作物は種まきから3ヶ月半で収穫できます。土壌中の塩分の存在に耐性があります。ポッカリは米の品種改良の親として使用され、潜在的な収量は 1 エーカーあたり約 60 ~ 80 ブッシェルです。現在、南西部沿岸地帯に沿って栽培されており、土壌塩分濃度が高いハンバントタ地区とプッタラム地区では主食作物となっている。科学的研究により、酸化ストレスの治療に有用な薬効の証拠が発見されています。調査結果は、特定の有害な細菌を阻害する能力も示しています。たんぱく質も豊富に含まれていることが分かりました。ふすまを一緒に摂取することは、このような貴重な栄養と薬効を得る上で重要です。
